Atlanta teens killed dog, then threatened children if they told about it

ATLANTA - Two teenage brothers each were sentenced to 10 years in prison for torturing a puppy by cooking it in an oven.
Joshua Moulder, 17, and Justin, 19, pleaded guilty in January to charges including burglary, criminal damage to property, terroristic threats and cruelty to children.
The brothers brought neighborhood children to see the dead puppy, then threatened to kill them if they reported it, prosecutors said.
Police said they found the dead mixed-breed puppy inside an oven at an apartment community center Aug. 21. Scratch marks were found inside the oven, indicating the puppy had been alive when it was placed inside, prosecutors said.
A necropsy on the 3-month-old dog found its paws and snout had been duct taped and it had been doused with paint before being placed in the oven, prosecutors said.
Authorities also found damaged computers, broken glass and splattered paint on the walls of the newly refurbished community center.

The brothers’ first trial ended in a mistrial in December. Their attorney, Timothy Owens, said he had hoped his clients’ sentencing would have focused more on rehabilitation than incarceration.

What kind of sick, demented, twisted kids are we raising these days? This kind of cruelty just turns my stomach. Also, the line about their lawyer "hoping the punishment would have focussed on rehabilitation rather than incarceration" -- I've got news for ya Mr. Lawyer, at age 17 and 19 the boys are well beyond help. If they have reached a level of apathy for another living being so as to duct tape it, cover it in paint and bake it alive in an oven, they are pretty much hopeless cases. Yes, let us all sing "Kumbaya" and rehabilitate these demons from their unfathomable cruelty and apathy toward another life. Let's let them keep roaming the streets so they can work their way up the food chain to our children and satiate their next escalation of adrenalin-fueled extacy and cruelty. No! I have a better idea... let 'em rot in hell.

Talking about Petition

My friend Di's family has been waiting for over a year to get results on an autopsy done on her mother who died of a generative neurological disease; a disease from which her sister currently suffers. However, the specific cause of this disorder has not been determined. The Calgary Movement Disorders Clinic at the Foothills hospital is stonewalling and the neuropathologist in charge of the case seems to not give a flying shit whether or not the family gets the answers they are seeking. However, without this information, my friend's sister's condition will continue to deteriorate and no one will be able to help her.

Remembering what they died for...

In the not too distant past, we fought wars against injustice and tyranny; we did this to ensure that future generations would always have freedom and liberty. We did this because we believed unwaveringly in the moral imperative of our mission. We opposed tyrants and madmen, and our ordinary young rose valiantly and courageously to an improbable challenge, all becoming heroes and many paying the ultimate price in the protection of freedom.

Today, our own governments are the tyrants and madmen to whom we freely give away our hard-won freedoms and liberties; as though these are cheap and worthless commodities that cost us nothing to acquire.

Today, we allow our leaders to wage unjust war, sanction and employ torture*, utterly trample the same UN directives that we accused others of violating by use of horrific chemical, biological and nuclear weapons on civilian populations* – one of the primary justifications for the current war.

Today, the Executive branch of the most powerful nation of the (supposedly) enlightened world have put the lives of their loyal and trusting people and the weight of the country's precious resources at risk so that they can defend a New World Order, a hegemony to support the new moral imperatives of greed: “the right to have Oil” and “the right to make Profit”; and to do so in the relatively short time they have in political office before their free ride comes to an end. They pursue these imperatives hapless of the costly legacy that it will leave behind for generations to come in this Brave New World.

*: Torture in Abu Ghraib prison, use of Phosphorous Oxide on civilians in Fallujah, Iraq, and the bombing of arable lands and water basins during the first Gulf War with weapons made with Depleted Uranium (still radioactive), rendering those lands and waters poisonous for human use. Info on the link between D.U. use and "Gulf War Syndrome".

Use of chemical weapons is forbidden by a treaty which the US signed in 1997.

I have been frustrated by this message as of late. It has been happening alot in the last week and a half. I get it whenever I click another Spaces link. I have seen this message in the past, but not with the frequency with which it has been occurring as of late. My usual remedy in the past was to "Refresh" the page once or twice in 5 second intervals. This would usually do the trick and the site would come up. This was only possible because when MSN Spaces failed to bring up the site, it left the URL in the address bar unmolested.

However, since a week and a half ago, whenever this error comes up, the URL in the address bar has been changing to be of the form:

http://spaces.msn.com/ErrorPage.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/members/someMsnMember/PersonalSpace.aspx

I don't know if this is due to a lapse in MSN's judgement during the last (unsuccessful) upgrade of their service, but the fact that the URL is changing to reference ErrorPage.aspx now means the browser "Refresh" trick will no longer work. Instead, you must now go back to the original link and reclick it.

One other problem is that once a bad page is cached by the browser for the original URL, depending on your browser settings, it can be hard to get rid of. So, one must go back to the original link and employ a "forced page load" (holding down the 'CTRL' key and clicking "Refresh". This works in Internet Explorer. Other browsers may have different "forced page load" function mappings.)

Whomever thought it was a good idea to tamper with the URL must have rocks in his head. MSN, are you listening? Change it back. If your service is going to continue to have problem, then the least you can do is make it easier for your users to recover from these problems by leaving the URL alone. We all realize this is a free service and we are grateful for it, but does this mean it has to be so problem-ridden? I mean you guys are Microsoft! Come on guys, think Google!

If you do have a link that is doing this, trying holding down 'CTRL' and clicking on the original link. This will force a page load of that link. No guarantee it'll work, but at least it's worth a try.
